Title: Mismatched Season 2: A Mixed Bag of Teen Romance and Social Commentary
Synopsis:
Mismatched Season 2 delves into the lives of a group of young individuals, exploring themes that resonate with the younger generation. While it manages to deliver what fans yearn for, it falls short when attempting to explore uncharted territories. The season boasts untapped potential for future storylines.
Story:
Set against the backdrop of an upscale Jaipur-based tech university, Mismatched Season 2 follows the tumultuous relationship between Rishi (Rohit Saraf) and Dimple (Prajakta Koli). As their relationship hits a rough patch, new bonds form among the characters, including Harsh (Vihaan Samat) and Sanskriti (Sanjana Sarathy). However, the complexities of Professor Siddharth Sinha's (Rannvijay Singha) app-development summer course in Jaipur make things far from simple. While new love blooms, feelings for exes still linger.
Language: English/Hindi
Cast: Prajakta Koli, Rohit Saraf, Taaruk Raina, Rannvijay Singha, Vidya Malvade, Vihaan Samat, and others.
Review:
Based on the book "When Dimple Met Rishi" by Sandhya Menon, director Akarsh Khurana successfully captures the vibrant setting of an upscale Jaipur-based tech university. The series introduces a multitude of characters, each adding their own flavor to the storyline. However, the net result is a heavily clichéd plotline that fails to fully engage the audience.
The music in the series leaves a lasting impression, but the heart and soul of the story feel somewhat off-beat amidst the series' attempts to tackle important social issues such as mental health, body image, homosexuality, and the toxic culture of perfection on social media. Despite these commendable efforts, the execution leaves room for improvement.
Overall, Mismatched Season 2 offers a mixed bag of teen romance and social commentary, leaving viewers with a desire for more refined storytelling in future seasons.
